Mr. Hillary Mireku Bortey has been a seed technologist with the CSIR-Crops Research Institute since 2011. He is currently the Head of the Seed Technology Unit of the Biotechnology, Seed and Postharvest (BSP) Division of the Institute, a position he has held since May, 2012.
He is also currently the Institute’s Intellectual Property (IP) Officer responsible for reviewing, advising, amending and recommending several issues on IP matters. These include ownership and benefit-sharing in MOUs between the Institute and donor partners, the private sector and third parties regarding research agreements, contracts and crop variety licensing.
He is a Lecturer at the CSIR College of Science and Technology (CCST) teaching Seed Science and Technology since February 2017.
Mr. Bortey is the lead author in most of his scientific publications and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. programme in Seed Science at University of Eldoret, Kenya
