Mr. Godfried Ohene-Mensah attended Opoku Ware Senior Secondary School (OWASS), Kumasi and joined the CSIR-Crops Research Institute in 2016 as a Plant Pathologist. He holds an M.Sc. in Biotechnology and a B.Sc. in Agriculture(Crop science) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
His M.Sc. thesis was entitled “Characterization of Botryodiplodia theobromae strains affecting cocoa, mango, banana and yam in Ghana” and has been published in the Journal of Ghana Science Association and African Journal of Agricultural Research. The paper characterized 25 isolates from the 4 crops using SSR and RAPID primers and identified high genetic similarities above 80%. A finding suggestive of the need to review intercrop in order to manage major disease among the crops studied.
Godfried, has consulted for a number of organizations including the Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI), GIZ-ComCashew etc.
